Earlswood's young Laura Thomas came up against the might of champion bowler Betty Morgan MBE from Radnorshire IBC
in the Welsh Ladies Final played during the Welsh Grand Prix at Swansea in January 2011. Betty as always presented
a friendly attitude towards her young opponent throughout the game. Laura was awesome. Only having played the indoor
long bowls game for 2 years, she showed no signs of nervousness, taking her time on the mat she drew some great shots.
In the true spirit of the game Betty applauded Laura for her bowling excellence. What a great afternoon of bowling and -
icing on the cake, one of our own is the champion.
Well done Laura you did us proud. Final Result - 9/9 & 11/6
Laura along with her two fellow bowlers, Rhian Ashton and Hanna Clarke made it all the way to the Welsh semi finals to lose
by only 6 shots to the Torfaen Triples team, Mary Claire Mcculloch, Kelly & Kerry Packwood. Hanna being selected for both Junior
and Senior Internationals, and all three being selected for Senior Internationals, it has been a very successful season for these young women.
